Sourav Ganguly last world cup
Sourav Ganguly is the former Indian cricket and also the
former captain of Indian national team, he also knows by the name of God of
offside with his exemplary batting skills, in the year 1972 Sourav Ganguly was
born in Kolkata, his father Chandidas Ganguly was a famous businessman in his
city and he also got an elder brother named Snehashish Ganguly who inspires
Sourav Ganguly to play cricket and to maintain the balance between his studies
and his cricket they built a pitch in their house and he used to practice over
there whenever he gets time, Sourav Ganguly was right-hander but he became a
left-hander batsman to use the equipment of his elder brother.
Sourav Ganguly rose
through the ranks with the performance in his school level and he is the one
who has also played many domestic crickets in the Duleep trophy and also in the
Ranji cricket, at the age of 18 only he played his Ranji trophy final for
Bengal against Delhi side, and in that match, it was the Bengal team which were
crowned champion against the Delhi side.
Sourav Ganguly made his international debut for the Indian
team in the year 1992 in a one-day
international match against West Indies but in his first match he was unable to
perform and he also faced a lot of criticism for his bad behavior with the
other teammates.
Then he got dropped from the Indian team and played the
domestic cricket and in a Duleep trophy he played a scintillating inning of 171
runs before team India tour against England and with his outstanding
performance he got the selection in the team.
In his first test
match he played a class innings against England at the Lords and scored a
smashing 131 runs and with a century in the first innings he became the only
third player to score a century in their opening three innings.
In the year 2000 Sourav Ganguly named the captain of the
Indian national team and he won his first series against South Africa, in the
2000 ICC knockout trophy under his captaincy team India was also reached to the
finals.
Under the supervision of Sourav Ganguly team, India broke
the record of unbeaten 16 matches winning streak of Australia, under his captaincy team India also reached
to the world cup 2003 finals and Sourav Ganguly last world cup he played for
the team in the year 2007 in West Indies where the team got knocked out from
the group stages, he announced his retirement in the year 2008.
Sourav Ganguly also played the Indian premier league as well
with the Kolkata Knight riders team and also for the Pune Warriors team as well
and after playing two seasons with the Pune Warriors he announces his
retirement.
Now he is the current president of the BCCI.
